Job Overview

The Facilities Maintenance Manager II plays a pivotal role in supporting the Director of Facilities Management by overseeing the strategic planning, coordination, and supervision of daily operations and maintenance across various healthcare facilities. This role is crucial in managing resources effectively to ensure timely completion of preventive maintenance and scheduled tasks. Responsibilities include evaluating the utilization of electronic work order systems, maintaining a comprehensive asset inventory, ensuring the accuracy of work order documentation, and prioritizing asset repairs based on urgency and importance. The manager will also conduct annual risk assessments and manage the retirement of assets upon successful replacement procurement. This position oversees a portfolio that includes an Acute Care Hospital with a capacity of up to 499 beds, along with associated support buildings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership:
Assists in strategic planning within the designated area and leads ongoing activities to achieve established goals and objectives.
  • Supervision:
Ensures that all team members receive appropriate supervision in alignment with organizational policies and values. Implements an employee feedback mechanism to enhance operational processes and employee comprehension. Coordinates functions performed by assigned personnel with other services and departments.
  • Resource Management:
Contributes to the development and management of the annual budget. Monitors spending to ensure alignment with organizational and departmental guidelines. Demonstrates expertise in utility systems and vendor sourcing.
  • Planning:
Plays a significant role in the successful execution of the annual operating plan, assisting with financial analysis and formulating recommendations to meet plan objectives.
  • Asset Management:
Implements asset management systems and maintains inventory for facilities, including maintenance assets and preventive maintenance lifecycle data.
  • Financial Oversight:
Ensures effective monitoring and financial management of assigned areas. Identifies and recommends opportunities for cost containment while analyzing variances from budget expectations.
  • Continuous Improvement:
Encourages and supports staff participation in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance existing processes and optimize resource utilization (both human and material).
  • Customer Service:
Consistently upholds Customer Service Standards.
