Position Overview:
As a vital member of our healthcare team, the Medical Laboratory Scientist II is responsible for executing a range of routine and advanced technical tasks essential for conducting laboratory tests. These tests provide critical data that aids in the diagnosis and treatment of various medical conditions.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Exhibit expertise and adhere to established testing protocols and policies, ensuring compliance with quality assurance standards for both equipment and workspaces. Document corrective actions for any discrepancies encountered.

  2. Prepare necessary reagents and maintain an adequate inventory of materials for testing procedures, focusing on minimizing waste and managing departmental costs effectively.

  3. Utilize clinical judgment to prioritize tasks, troubleshoot test systems, and collaborate with appropriate departments to resolve issues, including contacting specialists for support when required.

  4. Contribute to the review and enhancement of procedures and documentation related to accreditation, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards set by authorities such as CAP, TJC, and OSHA.

  5. Maintain transparent and timely communication with team members and leadership regarding any issues that may impact patient care or departmental operations.

  6. Engage in the planning and execution of departmental changes by participating in staff meetings, task forces, or special projects.

  7. Partake in competency assessment programs as applicable.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field such as chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution.
  2. Foreign graduates must provide equivalency evaluation documentation.
  3. ASCP or equivalent certification is preferred.

Preferred Skills:

  1. Strong critical thinking abilities and decisive judgment.
  2. Capability to operate independently in a high-pressure environment.
  3. Ability to manage stress effectively and take appropriate actions as needed.
