Key Responsibilities
- Oversee a range of scientific instruments for materials synthesis and characterization (e.g., X-ray Diffraction, Scanning Electron Microscopy, etc.)
- Design and manage support systems for instrumentation, including vacuum systems, thermal control, and exhaust management
- Coordinate or perform routine maintenance with external vendors
- Collaborate with the data management team to create a tracking system for instrument upkeep and early failure detection
- Partner with the automation team and instrument scientists to develop and document calibration procedures
- Assist in executing calibration processes and general instrument operations as required
- Analyze, document, and present experimental findings to the FL97 research team
- Practical experience with scientific instrumentation, including x-ray, vacuum, and chemical handling systems
- Proficiency in the maintenance and safe operation of vacuum instruments and lasers
- Experience in repairing mechanical and electrical components of scientific devices
- Ability to develop standard operating procedures for scientific equipment
- Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a related discipline
- Strong self-motivation and independent thinking, with meticulous attention to detail
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex technical information clearly
- Willingness to collaborate with highly skilled teams in a dynamic, fast-paced, and technical environment
- Familiarity with scanning probe microscopy and/or nanoindentation techniques
- Experience in experiment automation
- Knowledge of computer programming
