Child Development Specialist

This Early Head Start Teacher position is available at Ulster County Community Action Committee, Inc. in Kingston, NY.
We offer a competitive salary of $18.00 - $23/hour and an excellent benefits package, including vacation, sick time, personal time, an SEP-IRA retirement plan, training, and tuition reimbursement.
About the RoleAs an Early Head Start Teacher, you will provide a safe and healthy learning environment for infants, toddlers, and their parents. You will create a welcoming space that supports the emerging skills of young children, utilizing the High Scope Infant Toddler curriculum model.
You will work collaboratively with other staff members to develop individual and weekly lesson plans, ensuring a balanced program of child-initiated and adult-directed activities.
Responsibilities- Provide care and supervision to infants and toddlers, including feeding, outside walks, and general care.
- Create a nurturing environment that promotes social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
- Plan and implement daily activities, including at least 45 minutes of free choice time and 30 minutes of outdoor time.
- Conduct ongoing visits, developmental screenings, COR assessments, individual plans, and parent conferences.
- A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential specific to infant and toddler development, or the ability to obtain it within 15 months of hire.
- A valid New York State driver's license and reliable transportation.
- The ability to lift 50 pounds and move at children's levels, including bending, squatting, and kneeling.
An associate degree in early childhood education is preferred. Two years or more of experience working with infants or toddlers would be beneficial. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Ability to work effectively under pressure and as part of a team is essential.
