Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the recruitment, coaching, training, and performance evaluation of team members.
  • Engage regularly with direct reports and collaborate with peers to foster cooperation.
  • Provide direct supervision to skilled professionals and support staff, acting as an advisor and becoming actively involved as necessary to meet project timelines and resolve issues.
  • Contribute to budgeting and financial decisions impacting the department, seeking approvals for financial actions beyond established limits.
Specific Duties
  • Coordinate the integration of generation resources into the ERCOT System, from initial application through to commercial operation approval.
  • Review and approve screening studies, interconnection study scopes, and compliance with protocols, ensuring all phases of interconnection are adequately supported.
  • Facilitate communication of ERCOT requirements to market participants.
  • Support working groups in developing planning databases and ensure regular updates of these datasets.
  • Maintain databases for Resource Entity modeling to ensure consistency across departments.
  • Develop and update models to reflect advancements in technology and business processes.
  • Represent ERCOT in technical committees and national policy groups.
  • Serve as an expert witness on matters related to generation interconnection.
  • Enhance understanding of competitive energy markets and collaborate with management to advance ERCOT's mission.
  • Assist in the development and management of departmental budgets and financial objectives.
  • Contribute to the establishment of departmental goals and initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in power engineering, electric transmission, or a related field.
  • Prior supervisory or project leadership experience is preferred.
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (Required).
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field (Preferred).
  • A combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge is acceptable.
Certifications
  • PE Professional Engineer certification is preferred.
