Children's Respite Program Overview

At Access Services, we offer a unique opportunity for individuals to provide temporary care and support to children with mental health challenges. As a Respite Provider, you will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being and safety of these children, while also providing a much-needed break for their primary caregivers.

What is Children's Respite?

Children's Respite is a temporary care arrangement that allows children with mental health challenges to stay with a host family, providing them with a safe and nurturing environment. This program is designed to give primary caregivers a break, allowing them to focus on their own well-being and recharge.

Types of Respite

We offer two types of Respite arrangements:

  • Planned Respite: This type of Respite is planned in advance, allowing us to match the child with a host family that meets their specific needs. This provides a stable and predictable environment for the child.
  • Emergency Respite: In situations where a child requires immediate care, we offer Emergency Respite services. This type of Respite is designed to provide a safe and temporary solution for children in crisis.
Requirements

To become a Respite Provider, you must:

  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Have a suitable home or apartment that can accommodate a child
  • Be able to obtain necessary clearances, including PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse, and FBI clearances for all household members aged 18 and above
  • Be willing to complete training and orientation to ensure the health and well-being of the child placed with you
  • Ensure all household members complete a physical exam
Benefits

As a Respite Provider, you will enjoy:

  1. A generous stipend starting at $100/night (taxed)
  2. Sign-on and referral bonuses
  3. Access to training, assistance, and 24-hour on-call support

We believe in the importance of matching children with host families that meet their unique needs. Our team will work closely with you to ensure a smooth and successful experience for both you and the child.
