Position Overview

The Senior Corporate Accountant plays a crucial role within the finance team, responsible for ensuring accurate and timely entries into the financial systems. This position supports accounting operations, prepares periodic financial reports, and maintains comprehensive accounting records.

Key Responsibilities
Outcomes are defined in collaboration with senior leadership, with a focus on long-term results.

Process Management
  • Integral participant in the monthly closing process, overseeing general ledger entries.
  • Prepare and review reconciliations for all Balance Sheet accounts and significant P&L accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP in expense recognition policies.
  • Verify that all expenses and Balance Sheet entries are accurately recorded and reconciled.
  • Document general ledger activities, including expenses, payroll, accruals, prepaids, and fixed assets.
  • Assist in data collection for monthly financial review meetings with executive leadership.
  • Conduct and review reconciliations for banking, balance sheet accounts, and major P&L accounts.
  • Support the annual external financial statement audit.
  • Assist in managing compliance related to income tax.
  • Facilitate state and local tax preparations and payments.
  • Contribute to the budgeting process.
  • Help establish internal control guidelines, policies, and procedures for financial management.
Process Improvements
  • Support initiatives aimed at reducing the closing cycle time.
  • Assist in implementing systems and processes to enhance processing efficiency while maintaining data integrity.
  • Promote the segregation of duties in reviewing general ledger activities.
  • Contribute to accounting system implementations and integrations.
  • Help develop and maintain standard operating procedures for key accounting processes.
  • Facilitate cross-functional training among accounting staff.
  • Support the creation of accounting flowcharts for major processes related to Balance Sheets and P&L accounts.
Mergers and Acquisitions
  • Assist the management team with integration efforts related to acquisitions.
  • Support valuation work and related tasks.
  • Provide assistance as needed during acquisition processes.
Qualifications
Possesses advanced knowledge and experience to tackle complex business challenges.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; CPA candidate preferred.
  • Strong understanding of financial data analysis and reporting.
  • Familiarity with payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.
  • Experience in a private equity-backed environment is advantageous.
  • Proficient in developing efficient processes and leveraging technology.
  • Solid grasp of GAAP and technical accounting principles.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct financial and quantitative analyses.
  • Experience in streamlining month-end closing processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging with all company functions.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across teams as well as independently.
