Reports To: Landscaping Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


ROLE SUMMARY

The Outdoor Maintenance Specialist is accountable for the comprehensive upkeep and maintenance of the external grounds of the facility, working under the direct guidance of the Landscaping Manager. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Mowing and maintaining lawns.
  • Trimming and edging around pathways, flower beds, and structures.
  • Pruning shrubs and trees to enhance growth and remove any damaged foliage.
  • Collecting and disposing of leaves.
  • Cleaning the grounds and eliminating debris.
  • Ensuring that the exterior surfaces and walkways are visually appealing.
  • Applying salt on public walkways to mitigate ice formation.
  • Planting grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs.
  • Irrigating lawns and shrubs.
  • Painting fences and ancillary structures.
  • Clearing drainage ditches and culverts.
  • Performing additional tasks as assigned.

SUPERVISORY ROLE

This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.


QUALIFICATIONS

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform each essential duty effectively. The following qualifications are necessary:

  • A high school diploma, GED, or current enrollment in an educational program to obtain the same.
  • No prior work experience is required.

LANGUAGE AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Capability to write basic correspondence and effectively present information in small group settings.

Ability to perform basic mathematical operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense to carry out simple instructions and handle standardized situations with minimal variables.


CERTIFICATIONS

Must maintain a valid and active gaming commission license while employed.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands of this position require the ability to:

  • Stand, walk, use hands, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk or hear.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
  • Possess specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, team members are regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is typically very loud.
