Kelly Science, Engineering, Technology & Telecom is looking for a skilled Mold Maintenance Specialist for a direct hire opportunity. Our client, a leader in the design and manufacturing of sports performance equipment, has a rich history of innovation and excellence.

The Mold Maintenance Specialist is responsible for all tasks related to the upkeep, repair, and modification of injection mold tooling, ensuring compliance with engineering, quality, and production standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct preventive maintenance on injection molding tools.
  • Repair damaged injection molding equipment.
  • Interpret and analyze tooling drawings for complex parts and assemblies.
  • Collaborate with the Tooling Manager to identify root causes of tooling issues.
  • Safely disassemble and reassemble molds while understanding their functionality.
  • Assist Process Technicians and maintain cleanliness of molds.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Support inventory management for components.
  • Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring cleanliness and organization.
  • Document activities within the Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
  • Work alongside Process Engineers to troubleshoot and enhance tooling processes.
  • Perform on-site adjustments to minimize downtime.
  • Ensure precise fitting of cores, cavities, and moving parts.
  • Operate surface grinders and lathes within specified tolerances.
  • Understand manifold systems such as Mold Master and Synventive.
  • Communicate daily activities to the Tooling Manager and production teams.
  • Polish and refine details as necessary.
  • Weld components when required.
  • Fit new details and perform spot checks.
  • Contribute as a team player, sharing knowledge and ideas.
  • Adhere to schedules and meet deadlines efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Work independently with clear guidance.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in plastic injection mold repair or maintenance.
  • 5+ years of experience with hand-operated tool room equipment.
  • Proficiency in welding, polishing, and surface grinding.
  • Strong understanding of mold and die components.
  • Able to read and interpret tooling drawings accurately.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in tool making with experience in die casting or plastic injection molding.
  • Experience with SAP or other CMMS systems.
  • Knowledge of injection molding processes.
  • Journeyman certification in toolmaking or mold making preferred.
  • Completion of trade school or college education.
