We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team at York County South Carolina. As a Custodian, you will play a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our facilities, ensuring a healthy and productive work environment for our staff and visitors.
Key Responsibilities- Provide general custodial maintenance in assigned County facilities, including sweeping, mopping, and cleaning surfaces.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of work performed, including inventory management and supply ordering.
- Perform all work in compliance with County policies, procedures, and standards, ensuring a high level of quality and attention to detail.
- Respond to inquiries and complaints from County staff and the public, providing excellent customer service and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Coordinate the locking and unlocking of doors, and set or disarm security systems as needed.
- Ensure walkways and parking areas are swept and free of debris.
- Maintain cleanliness and accurate supplies in restrooms, including restocking toilet paper, soap, and paper towels.
- Collect and distribute inter-office mail and deliver outgoing mail to external mailboxes.
- Remove and replace liners in trash receptacles as needed.
- Dust and clean surfaces, including doors, walls, showers, refrigerators, microwaves, and other appliances, and telephones.
- Move furniture as required for cleaning and preparing for events and meetings.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Two (2) years of custodial, maintenance, or related experience preferred or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- May be required to obtain certifications in CJIS (Criminal Justice Information System Certificate), Blood Borne Pathogens, and PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act) course, depending on location and provided by York County.
The Custodian will perform light to medium work that involves walking or standing virtually all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or considerable skill, adeptness, and speed in the use of the fingers, hands, or limbs in tasks involving close tolerances or limits of accuracy.
The job involves routine and frequent exposure to bright/dim light, dusts and pollen, extreme heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions, extreme noise levels, vibration, and fumes and/or noxious odors.
