Position Summary:
WHIN is seeking a dedicated Science Teacher for Middle School (Grades 5-8) who is passionate about contributing to a unique educational community where compassion, kindness, and curiosity are integral to daily life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Foster a dynamic, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment that inspires a love for learning among students.
- Tailor science instruction to accommodate diverse learning needs.
- Prepare students for college and career readiness, as assessed by the NYS science examination.
- Design, adapt, and implement curriculum and assessments for students with varying learning requirements.
- Enhance academic outcomes by analyzing data, personalizing instruction, and addressing each learner's distinct needs.
- Participate in Child Study Team evaluations to assess student requirements.
- Collaborate with fellow educators to deliver an effective science curriculum.
- Motivate students and colleagues to achieve their highest potential.
- Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with families.
- Adhere to all school policies within the classroom setting.
- Engage in school functions outside of regular hours.
- Attend and contribute to all school and parent meetings.
- Assist in planning and executing school-wide events.

Qualifications:
- Experience teaching in urban elementary settings.
- Possession of NYS or equivalent Education Teaching Certification with a focus on science education.
- Proven experience in teaching science with a strong understanding of the Next Generation Science Standards.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual proficiency (Spanish).

- Knowledge of Responsive Classroom, Love & Logic Student Management, and Restorative Justice frameworks.
Compensation and Benefits:
WHIN Music Community Charter School offers a competitive salary ranging from $62,000 to $100,000, commensurate with experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package, a supportive work environment, and ongoing professional development opportunities.
