About the Role: Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs) are crucial members of our healthcare team, supporting patient care in the perioperative setting by assisting surgeons and nursing staff before, during, and after surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain a sterile field to ensure patient safety and comfort.
  • Prepare the Operating Room by setting up sterilized instruments, positioning patients, and assisting others with gloves and gowns.
  • Assist the surgical team as needed by passing instruments, fluids, and supplies, holding retractors, and preparing equipment.
  • Implement proper counting techniques for all instruments, sponges, and tools to prevent errors.
  • Transport and transfer patients safely and efficiently.
  • Adhere to safety procedures and principles in all actions.

Requirements:

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification is required, or equivalent experience as an OR Tech can be used in lieu of certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory and must be maintained.
  • Prior experience in a scrub role, preferably six months to one year, is preferred.
  • Ability to read and write, hear, and follow verbal and/or written instructions.
  • Willingness to wear hospital-provided protective barrier attire while on duty.

Overland Park Regional Medical Center is a 340+ bed facility offering acute medical services to our patients. We are Johnson County's only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Level II Trauma Center. Our hospital features an Accredited Stroke and Chest Pain Center, making us a premier destination for Women's & Children's healthcare services.

We offer the region's only Maternal Fetal Health Center to care for critically ill mothers and their babies. Our hospital has an antepartum unit, a labor and delivery unit, and a Level III NICU. With four emergency rooms, including a dedicated Pediatric emergency room and two freestanding ERs located in Olathe and Shawnee, we provide comprehensive emergency services to the community.

Compensation and Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary range of $55,000 - $75,000 per year, based on experience. In addition to your salary, you will receive a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, disability coverage, paid time off, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
