Job Title: Infrastructure Operations Center Systems Administrator

We are seeking a highly skilled Infrastructure Operations Center Systems Administrator to join our team at ITR. As a key member of our Enterprise Operations Team, you will be responsible for providing compute and storage infrastructure for the enterprise operations of the Lab.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Document Team Processes: Develop and maintain a living knowledge base of team processes, including work instructions.
  • Infrastructure Monitoring: Monitor infrastructure equipment and servers for uptime and performance.
  • Backup Administration: Assist in backup administration and restore requests.
  • Enterprise Server Patching: Assist in enterprise server patching.
  • Server Vulnerability Management: Assist in server vulnerability management.
  • Data Center Infrastructure Management: Work with a Data Center Infrastructure Management System (DCIM) to track assets and connections.
  • Troubleshooting and Resolution: Collaborate with system engineers and vendors to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues.
  • Off-Hours Support: Provide off-hours support, troubleshooting, and escalation.
  • Process Improvement: Suggest and implement process improvements.
  • Software Installation and Configuration: Install and configure software, including commercial packages and open-source packages.
  • Data Storage Systems: Support data storage systems and backup services.
  • Metric Derivation: Derive results for metrics on technical performance as requested.
  • Automation and Self-Healing: Engage with engineers to automate workflows and locate and execute automation/self-healing solutions.
Requirements:
  • Education and Experience: An Associate's degree in Information Technology or a related technical field of study and five to seven years of experience. An overall combination of equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Technical Skills: Experience in PowerShell and scripting, backup architecture and operations, SCCM and server patching, managing virtualized environments, Windows and Linux Server Platforms, and enterprise-class backup solutions.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills suitable for user support and the ability to work well with peer system administrators.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Enterprise Automated VM Cluster Experience: Experience with enterprise automated VM cluster installation, configuration, and management.
  • Government or Scientific Environment Experience: Previous experience working in a government, scientific, or other highly technical environment.
  • Cyber Security Awareness: Demonstrated ability to perform job tasks while considering cyber security risk and consulting with security professionals when necessary.
  • Change Control Processes: Experience in an environment requiring change control processes.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Teamwork and Adaptability: Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory.
