Job Title: Chief Plumbing Inspector

Job Summary:

The Chief Plumbing Inspector will be responsible for supervising technical personnel involved in plumbing installations and alterations, ensuring compliance with the Plumbing Code and Florida Building Code. This role requires strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and coordinate the workload of electrical inspectors, directing and supervising the duties of assigned staff.
  • Inspect residential, commercial, industrial, and other buildings during and after construction to ensure plumbing components meet building, plumbing, and safety laws.
  • Review building codes to stay up-to-date on changes in regulations and interpret code requirements for engineers, contractors, craft workers, architects, and owners.
  • Interact and communicate with various groups and individuals, including architects, home and business owners, contractors, engineers, and the general public, to explain and interpret codes and regulations.
  • Maintain licenses by obtaining continuing education and staying updated on all codes and ordinances in effect.
  • Attend safety and departmental communication meetings and city policy training.
  • Perform second inspections and report violations, and assist in representing the City at court hearings.
Requirements:
  • Vocational/Technical degree with training emphasis on plumbing.
  • Five (5) years previous experience and/or training in plumbing and plumbing code compliance inspection.
  • Valid Master Plumbing Contractor certification.
  • State Registered Plumbing Contractor.
  • Broward County Board of Rules and Appeals certification (BORA).
  • State certified Plans Examiner.
  • State Certified Inspector.
  • Valid State of Florida Driver License.
