Therapeutic Education Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Special Education Teacher to join our team at Rivermont Schools in Virginia. As a Therapeutic Education Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing therapeutic education for students ages 2-22 with autism, behavioral challenges, and unique learning needs.
Compensation: Our base salary is $65,000 per year, dependent on location, educational background, and experience. We also offer relocation assistance, paid time off, and a generous benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans, as well as flexible spending account and health savings account options.
About the Role
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student with special needs.
- Monitor student progress through tracking and assessing student development, making necessary adjustments to keep them on the path to success.
- Manage challenging behaviors and implement behavior support plans.
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, support staff, and parents to build a supportive, inclusive learning environment.
- Create a positive and engaging learning space where every student feels supported and can thrive.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in special education, education, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Proven experience in developing, implementing, and managing IEPs.
- Strong communication skills for effectively engaging with students, parents, and staff.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team.
- Possess a passion for Special Education, demonstrated by patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students with special needs succeed.
