The Director of Teaching and Learning Excellence will serve as a key leader in advancing the mission of InsideHigherEd to promote excellence in teaching and learning. This position will provide strategic direction and operational oversight for initiatives aimed at enhancing teaching, learning, technology integration, and student learning outcome assessment across all disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Vision: Provide leadership, vision, and influence to elevate teaching and learning innovation and excellence.
- Communication and Collaboration: Communicate the vision and goals of the Teaching and Learning Excellence initiative to university stakeholders, including faculty and senior administrators.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for Teaching and Learning Excellence in alignment with institutional goals and priorities.
- Staff Supervision: Provide leadership and supervision for Teaching and Learning Excellence staff and units, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
- Faculty Support: Collaborate with academic departments and faculty to identify and address teaching and learning needs, challenges, and opportunities.
- Professional Development: Design, coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate professional development programs, workshops, and seminars to enhance teaching effectiveness and promote innovative instructional methods.
- Instructional Design: Oversee the development and implementation of instructional design strategies that align with best practices in curriculum development and course design.
- Resource Development: Oversee the design, development, and dissemination of resources to enhance teaching effectiveness.
- Inclusive Teaching: Foster a culture of inclusive teaching and learning by providing resources instructors can use to support the university's diverse student population.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Oversee the assessment and evaluation of program-level effectiveness, student learning outcomes, and Teaching and Learning Excellence programs and services.
- Technology Integration: Promote the use of technology and digital resources to enhance course content, accessibility, and engagement.
- Liaison and Representation: Serve as a liaison between Teaching and Learning Excellence and other university units, committees, and stakeholders to promote cross-disciplinary collaboration and communication.
- Professional Development: Stay abreast of emerging trends, research, and best practices in teaching and learning, and disseminate relevant information to the university community.
- Financial Management: Manage the budget, resources, and facilities of Teaching and Learning Excellence effectively and responsibly.
- Representation: Represent Teaching and Learning Excellence and participate in relevant university committees, conferences, and professional organizations.
Qualifications:
- Master's Degree: Master's degree in Education, Higher Education Administration, Instructional Design, or a related field.
- Leadership Experience: Minimum of three years of experience in a leadership role in higher education, with demonstrated leadership in teaching and learning support programs or faculty development initiatives.
