Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Coordinator to join our team at Pathways LA. As a key member of our HR department, you will be responsible for coordinating and leading the routine functions of the HR department, including recruitment, onboarding staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave changes, and enforcing company policies and practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and lead the routine functions of the HR department, including recruitment, onboarding staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave changes, and enforcing company policies and practices.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal employment laws and regulations.
  • Identify, develop, and implement efficient and effective recruiting methods.
  • Support implementation of all phases of the recruitment process.
  • Collaborate with the hiring manager and the HR Assistant during the offer process, identifying start dates, background check completion, and other pertinent details.
  • Onboard new employees into the employment portal.
  • Conduct new-hire orientation and employee handbook policies meetings.
  • Collaborate with the HR Assistant with HRIS as it relates to employees' personnel files/required forms submission.
  • Partner with the HR Director to understand and execute the organization's DE&I goals and objectives as it relates to recruitment, retention, and succession planning.
  • Process personnel and payroll change forms for new hires, terminations, and salary/job changes.
  • Collaborate with payroll to ensure checks and balances during payroll.
  • Administration of company benefits plans.
  • Communicate benefit information to employees, including open enrollment.
  • Process mandated reports as needed.
  • Administration of 403B Retirement Plan.
  • Process semi-monthly deposits and loans.
  • Prepare yearly mandated reports (IRS 5500 and Discrimination Report).
  • Provide support and guidance to HR assistant, management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise.
  • May be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices.
  • Review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintain good working relationships with all employees and sustain credibility within the organization.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Attend to other duties and special projects as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; or two to three years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Ability to create and implement sourcing strategies for recruitment for a variety of roles.
  • Familiarity with laws, regulations, and best practices applicable to hiring and recruitment.
  • Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with ability to meet deadlines and pay attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), and client database software.
  • Ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS and applicant-tracking software or other recruitment systems.
  • Ability to work effectively with people from diverse economic and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Must possess a valid California driver's license, have use of a motor vehicle and provide evidence of automobile liability insurance.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer. No sponsorships are available for these positions.
Compensation Package
  • Vacation: 2 paid weeks per year for the first 2 years of service. No waiting period.
  • Sick Days: 10 per year – no waiting period.
  • Holidays: 11 per year – no waiting period.
  • Paid Hours Early Release: 16 – no waiting period.
  • Kaiser HMO Medical Plan: 100% employee coverage.
