Job Summary

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join the State of North Carolina as a Vehicle/Equipment Repair Technician II. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing skilled repairs and maintenance on a variety of mechanical systems, including small engines, automotive, and heavy equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on vehicles and equipment, including inspections, service, and diagnosis of mechanical systems.
  • Conduct complex repairs and rebuilds of mechanical systems, including electrical, suspension, and brake systems.
  • Use advanced diagnostic instruments and software to analyze and repair mechanical systems.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and supervisors to ensure efficient and effective repair processes.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; two years of experience in the repair work to which assigned.
  • Experience in performing preventive maintenance on light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks and heavy equipment.
  • Experience in diagnostics of basic electrical systems and proper repair of wiring.
  • Experience in basic hydraulic system repairs, including component replacement and hoses.
  • Ability to read and interpret OEM manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Ability to work in an indoor and outdoor environment, with the physical strength to move heavy objects.
