Job Summary

The Procurement Specialist will be responsible for managing all purchasing activity related to assigned commodities/services to support quality, delivery, and cost goals for current production and new product development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage working relationships with suppliers to resolve quality, delivery, cost, or performance issues.
  • Participate in the development of and communication to suppliers of their performance.
  • Effectively communicate opportunities and successes to all levels of the organization.
  • Assist in the development of sourcing strategies by tracking annual spend information.
  • Identify process/productivity improvements in MRO, Services, Raw Materials, Packaging, or other procurement areas.
  • Proficient with commercial contracts and knowledge of purchasing law, UCC/INCO, import/export regulations, terms and conditions, and foreign currency.
  • Participate in key project initiatives as requested.
  • Plan, schedule, and source Services, Raw Materials, Packaging, and MRO supplies used within operations.
  • Evaluate suppliers, prices, alternative materials, service, and delivery to determine and/or recommend preferred purchasing strategy.
  • Develop, negotiate, and administer supply agreements.
  • Meet established safety-specific performance plan requirements.
  • Follow and participate in ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
Requirements

Experience in procurement or other applicable business experience.

Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is required or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required competencies/skill sets: Problem-solving abilities, business acumen, proficient on PC, electronic communication, and integrated purchasing systems.

Preferred competencies/skill sets: Technical/functional expertise and negotiation skills.

Previous Paper Industry or other heavy industry experience a plus.
