Job Overview

Freedom Project is a non-profit organization working to dismantle mass incarceration and heal its traumatic effects. We are committed to creating a progressive, non-hierarchical work environment that promotes racial equity and opposes systemic inequalities.

Salary: $80,080 per year.

About the Role

The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs, and strategic plan of Freedom Project. Key duties include fundraising, marketing, community outreach, and leadership development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Management:
    • Ensure programmatic excellence, rigorous evaluation, and quality financial management.
    • Engage and energize volunteers, board members, and partners.
    • Lead, coach, and develop staff to achieve strategic goals.
  • Fundraising & Communications:
    • Expand revenue-generating activities to support existing operations and expansion.
    • Deepen and refine communications to create a stronger brand.
    • Cultivate external relationships to secure new opportunities.
  • Strategic Plan Implementation:
    • Implement Freedom Project's strategic plan while ensuring alignment with core mission.
    • Develop and execute program, organizational, and financial plans with the Board and staff.
  • Board Governance:
    • Communicate effectively with the Board and provide necessary information.
    • Work closely with the Board to seek their involvement in policy decisions, fundraising, and programming.

Requirements:

  • Leadership Skills:
    • Transparent and high-integrity leadership.
    • Five or more years of senior nonprofit management experience.
  • Strategic Thinking:
    • Ability to envision and convey the organization's strategic future.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate with staff.
  • Fundraising Experience:
    • Active fundraising experience with excellent donor relations skills.
    • Understanding of the funding community and ability to establish relationships with key stakeholders.
