Position Overview: The Department of Veteran Affairs is in search of a qualified and licensed Eye Care Specialist. This role is based at a Community-Based Outpatient Clinic and offers a full-time, permanent opportunity. The standard working hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Key Responsibilities: The Eye Care Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Delivering comprehensive eye care services, including follow-up care for existing conditions and management of urgent cases
  • Conducting thorough examinations of the eye to identify and treat abnormal conditions
  • Prescribing corrective lenses, contact lenses, and other optical devices
  • Consulting and referring patients to other healthcare professionals as necessary
  • Educating patients, residents, students, and medical staff on ocular health and disease prevention
  • Participating in the clinical training of optometry residents and externs when available
