Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Emergency Response Specialist to join our team. As an ERS, you will play a critical role in providing life support and transport of sick and injured persons in and out of hospital settings. You will operate an ambulance, provide ERS-level emergency medical care to patients, and maintain a good working relationship with all customer groups and agencies.
Key Responsibilities- Operate an ambulance for non-emergency transports
- Operate and monitor medical equipment per ERS protocols
- Communicate with our communication center and other agencies while in transport or responding to calls
- Complete all required documentation with accurate and timely information
- Adhere to all operating and safety policies and procedures
- Assist in maintaining supplies and equipment, as well as general upkeep and cleaning of ambulances
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned
- Mental alertness and adaptability to office and field area work routines
- Equivalent to four years of high school or GED, with particular emphasis in office skills, shop skills, or others
- 0 to 6 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of known variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram formats
- Arkansas driver's license with motor vehicle record that meets insurance carrier standards
- Arkansas ERS certificate
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR
- Two years driving experience
- Ability to speak clearly and effectively in person and over the telephone and radio
- Knowledge of pre-hospital emergency medical protocols
- Knowledge of our service area and the ability to read and comprehend maps and directions
- Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people
- Ability to remain calm during stressful situations
- Ability to present a caring and professional image
Primary schedule will be four, 10-hour shifts, generally on weekdays. Weekend hours and occasional overtime may be required. Physical demands include frequent lifting of 110+ pounds, pushing, pulling, and carrying various medical equipment, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, bending, twisting, lifting, walking, and running. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Occasional respirator use. Hearing that by audiometric testing demonstrates no worse than a mild loss of hearing. Requires corrected or uncorrected vision 20/20 in each eye and with both eyes together.
