RN - Utilization Review Specialist

About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled RN - Utilization Review Specialist to join our team at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. As a key member of our Utilization Management department, you will play a critical role in ensuring quality, cost-effective care for our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all systems and services required for an organized, multidisciplinary patient-centered care team approach.
- Manage the course of treatment of patients, coordinating care with physicians, nurses, and other staff to achieve quality patient outcomes.
- Conduct initial and ongoing assessments, initiate disease management protocols, and determine and manage outcomes.
- Ensure continuity of care through discharge planning, utilization of resources, and analysis of variances.
- Function as a contact person for patients, families, healthcare team members, community resources, and employees as necessary.
Requirements:
- 1 year of directly related experience.
- RN licensure in New Mexico or reciprocal agreement.
- CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuer within 30 days.
Working Conditions:
Light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly.
