Position Summary
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist is tasked with overseeing, managing, and executing all environmental health and safety initiatives for a manufacturing organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal health, safety, and environmental regulations; provide necessary training for staff.
- Prepare and submit mandatory safety and environmental documentation (both internal and external).
- Collaborate with the EHS Manager on various initiatives.
- Lead efforts for permitting and compliance regarding new processes and equipment.
- Manage non-hazardous waste streams with an emphasis on cost efficiency and reduction of waste volume.
- Create and maintain documentation for programs, including procedures and tracking mechanisms.
- Regularly assess the status of waste streams (hazardous and non-hazardous) through testing and review.
- Design and implement innovative sustainability initiatives focused on waste reduction and recycling.
- Work with consulting firms on program modifications, remediation, and compliance matters.
- Establish and manage programs aimed at minimizing workplace accidents and injuries, including conducting safety audits.
- Develop and sustain training initiatives.
- Oversee work-related Return-to-Work programs.
- Track and report on both leading and lagging safety indicators.
Qualifications for Success
- Bachelor's degree in Safety and Health is preferred.
- 2-5 years of relevant EHS experience.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations.
- Experience with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
