Position Summary

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist is tasked with overseeing, managing, and executing all environmental health and safety initiatives for a manufacturing organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal health, safety, and environmental regulations; provide necessary training for staff.
  • Prepare and submit mandatory safety and environmental documentation (both internal and external).
  • Collaborate with the EHS Manager on various initiatives.
  • Lead efforts for permitting and compliance regarding new processes and equipment.
  • Manage non-hazardous waste streams with an emphasis on cost efficiency and reduction of waste volume.
  • Create and maintain documentation for programs, including procedures and tracking mechanisms.
  • Regularly assess the status of waste streams (hazardous and non-hazardous) through testing and review.
  • Design and implement innovative sustainability initiatives focused on waste reduction and recycling.
  • Work with consulting firms on program modifications, remediation, and compliance matters.
  • Establish and manage programs aimed at minimizing workplace accidents and injuries, including conducting safety audits.
  • Develop and sustain training initiatives.
  • Oversee work-related Return-to-Work programs.
  • Track and report on both leading and lagging safety indicators.

Qualifications for Success

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety and Health is preferred.
  • 2-5 years of relevant EHS experience.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations.
  • Experience with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
