Role Summary

The After School Educator will serve as a dynamic and supportive role model, promoting creativity and personal development among students. This position involves designing, executing, and overseeing both academic and enrichment activities that align with our educational framework. The educator will also ensure the safety and well-being of all participants in the program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engaging academic and enrichment lesson plans.
  • Assist students with homework and academic tasks.
  • Utilize restorative practices to address student behavior effectively.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records daily.
  • Foster professional relationships with parents, teachers, and staff.
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings for program development.
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures as outlined in organizational handbooks.
  • Demonstrate punctuality and reliability in attendance.
  • Undertake additional duties and special projects as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

  • Possession of an Associate Degree or higher, or completion of 48 college units, or successful completion of the Instructional Aide exam.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check and TB test clearance.

Desired Skills

  • Ability to maintain composure in challenging situations.
  • Experience in educational or childcare settings.
  • Prior experience in after school programs is advantageous.
  • Expertise in specific enrichment areas (e.g., arts, music, sports) is a plus.

Supervisor: After School Coordinator

Time Commitment

This position offers both part-time and full-time opportunities, following a 10-month academic calendar with potential for summer program involvement and professional development days.
