Job Title: Phlebotomist

At GraceMed Health Clinic, we are seeking a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our team. As a Phlebotomist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical laboratory.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect and process blood samples from patients for laboratory testing.
  • Perform phlebotomy and CLIA waived lab tests, collect and test patient specimens, and ensure proper labeling of all materials.
  • Prepare samples for laboratory testing, analysis, or microscopy.
  • Maintain and stock laboratory equipment.
  • Conduct chemical analysis to determine the presence of normal and abnormal components.
  • Analyze samples of biological material for chemical content or reaction.
  • Calculate medical diagnostic test results.
  • Follow infectious materials procedures and safe waste disposal procedures in accordance with policies.
  • Provide patient education as requested.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Maintain a follow-up system for lab results.
  • Enter analysis of medical tests and clinical results into the computer for accountability.
  • Label blood samples and maintain appropriate documentation records, reports, and files.
  • Assist in the development and documentation of protocols related to job functions.
  • Assist in training new staff in proper phlebotomy, labeling, documentation, and data entry.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • CPR certification (must be obtained within 30 days of hire).
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum of one year of proven lab phlebotomist experience.
  • Experience in public health preferred.
  • Previous computer experience or training preferred.
  • Electronic medical records experience preferred.
Technical Skills:
  • Thorough knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment, including computers, copiers, and other standard office equipment.
  • Ability to work independently, organize, monitor, and adjust work as necessary to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and solve problems.
  • Ability to provide innovative input into the development of the lab medical clinic and its processes.

Work Schedule:

Normal schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Schedule may vary.

Working Conditions:

Medical office setting. Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time. Bending, stooping, and lifting (up to 50lbs) may be required. Interaction with physicians, patients, and other office personnel. May involve contact with angry, upset, or ill persons. May involve potential exposure to blood and body fluids and other hazardous substances. Must have visual acuity and manual dexterity to interface with computer. Must have auditory acuity to handle phone calls.
