Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting and preparing specimens for laboratory testing, assisting in performing laboratory tests and procedures, and maintaining accurate records.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Collect blood specimens by performing venipuncture and finger sticks, and obtain other specimens as appropriate per lab policy and protocol.
  2. Create a positive and professional atmosphere with patients while explaining procedures and obtaining specimens.
  3. Verify patient identity and verify drawing labels by comparing information on labels with information on the nursing desk top.
  4. Maintain specimen integrity by using aseptic technique, following department procedures, and observing isolation procedures.
  5. Collect therapeutic drug-monitoring assays by collaborating with nursing personnel to ensure appropriate drug dose to collection time.
  6. Track collected specimens by initialing, dating, and noting times of collection.
  7. Identify, label, and store specimens properly.
  8. May assist in performing tests and procedures as ordered by medical staff.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) certification preferred.
  • One year phlebotomy experience.
