Job Summary

The Clinical Assistant provides critical support to our medical team during clinic visits. This paraprofessional role involves collecting information from patients and providers in real-time, documenting patient histories, diagnoses, medical treatments, and more.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with providers to take accurate notes during patient visits and document them in the electronic health records system in real-time.
  • Prepare detailed reports using correct medical terminology, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Update EMR patient records with patients' medical histories and examination findings.
  • Employ a team approach in patient care, working closely with providers and other healthcare professionals.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and providers, ensuring seamless care coordination.
  • Assist with completing and submitting medical records, including electronically prescribing medication and scheduling diagnostic testing.
  • Verify patient information for accuracy and ensure data integrity.
  • Edit reports for clarity without altering the meaning intended by providers or patients.
  • Maintain a reliable backup system to prevent data loss in case of system malfunctions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the medical team.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrate expertise in documenting patient care during appointments.
  • Possess advanced computer and keyboarding skills, including proficiency with technology used for job performance.
  • Have knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, medical procedures, medications, and laboratory test information.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  • Exhibit strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.
  • Display excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as a caring bedside manner and interpersonal abilities.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment, remaining detail-oriented and organized while maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor.
