Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at Arkansas Hospice, Inc. as a Staff Registered Nurse - Hospice Care Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals and families facing life-limiting illnesses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the development and revision of patient care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide safe, high-quality, and comprehensive nursing care to patients, families, and caregivers.
  • Assess patient and family needs, and provide education and support to promote optimal health outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the hospice physician to provide patient care that emphasizes symptom control and addresses spiritual and emotional needs.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, and document care provided according to organizational guidelines.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and other care plan meetings to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Conduct evaluations of Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and/or Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) as required.
  • Adhere to all organizational and departmental policies and procedures, and maintain confidentiality at all times.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Previous nursing experience in a hospital, home health agency, or hospice setting preferred; new graduates also eligible.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Arkansas.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and occasional overtime required.
  • CPR certification required.

  • Knowledge of palliative care with emphasis on symptom control associated with terminal illness.
  • Knowledge of the holistic approach toward patient care and the nursing process as it applies to hospice patients and families.
  • Knowledge and acceptance of hospice philosophy and principles of care.
  • Skill in organizing and prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to recognize both positive and negative aspects of death and grief.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work as a team player.
  • Ability to demonstrate tact, resourcefulness, patience, and dedication.
  • Ability to accept direction and adhere to policies and procedures.
