Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Specialist to join our team at Knapheide Manufacturing. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating all activities associated with sending production to outside suppliers, including quoting, planning, and inventory functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Procurement Planning: Review new requirements with Production Planners to identify potential work at subcontractors, and develop strategies to meet our production needs.
  • Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels at subcontractors, including initiating debits for scrap generated and assisting with cycle counts of raw materials.
  • Supply Chain Coordination: Coordinate material to be drop shipped to subcontract suppliers, and ensure timely delivery of components.
  • Supplier Evaluation: Evaluate Knapheide prints in conjunction with outside supplier capability, and source materials accordingly.
  • Shop Order Management: Plan and maintain subcontract shop orders, ensuring accurate and timely execution.
  • Communication: Communicate engineering changes, prints, electronic files, and paint chips to suppliers, and ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Reporting: Provide management reports on a monthly and/or quarterly basis, detailing cost per supplier as requested.
  • Customer Service: Expedite customer requests, ensuring timely resolution and satisfaction.
Requirements
  • Experience: 4-year college degree or previous purchasing experience.
  • Skills: Solid understanding of general MRP system (purchasing and planning), ability to be self-guided with project and supplier relations, strong collaboration background and skills, team collaborator, willing to work cross-functionally.
  • Knowledge: Materials, fabrication, and machining knowledge (highly desirable).
