As a key member of our compliance team, you will be responsible for ensuring that our client's trading operations comply with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as internal risk and compliance policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure trading operations comply with relevant regulations, including CFTC, FERC, EIA, and internal risk and compliance policies.
  • Report trading activities accurately and efficiently to management and regulators.
  • Identify and report any breaches in daily compliance processes to Compliance Management and the Head of Risk Control.
  • Analyze and reconcile daily compliance issues, coordinating with relevant departments for investigation and resolution.
  • Manage Level 2 CFTC Swap Reporting for a dynamic power business, including contract analysis, working with data feeds (API, FTP), and using internal risk systems.
  • Handle operational risk requests from national regulatory authorities.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation and reports for audit and retention purposes.
  • Continuously review and improve operational procedures and the compliance framework by identifying vulnerabilities, implementing corrective actions, and collaborating with other departments.
  • Educate and support trading and trade support functions on compliance matters.
  • Assist global operational risk teams with European and Asian reporting processes (e.g., EMIR, REMIT, MIFID II, MAS, ASIC).

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or a related discipline required.
  • Graduate Degree in Economics, Finance, Business, Mathematics, or a quantitative discipline preferred. Professional certification is a plus.
  • 3 to 7 years of experience in operational or market compliance, ideally within a commodity trading environment.
  • Familiarity with swap reporting and compliance reporting for US commodities and financial trading.
  • Solid understanding of finance and risk management methodologies.
  • Strong analytical skills, with proficiency in numerical analysis and advanced computer literacy, including Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and scripting tools such as Python or Alteryx.
  • Comfort with legal texts and the ability to translate these into actionable processes.
