Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Regulatory Analyst to join our team at Bayou City Hemp Company. As a key member of our compliance team, you will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing regulatory developments, policies, and legislation specific to the cannabis and alcohol industries at both the federal and state level.

This role involves collaborating closely with our General Counsel, conducting research, providing insights, and ensuring compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. To succeed in this role, you will need to have experience in compliance issues and be willing to dive into the cannabis and alcohol industries' laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Stay up-to-date on state and federal regulations governing the cannabis and alcohol industries and present new information to leadership.
  • Analyze complex regulatory frameworks specific to state and federal regulations and provide concise summaries and reports to stakeholders.
  • Conduct policy gap analysis at the federal and state level for regulations to identify areas of improvement, potential risks, and make recommendations for policy enhancements.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of compliance programs specific to Texas regulations and federal requirements to ensure adherence and provide guidance and support to internal teams.
  • Conduct internal audits and reviews to assess compliance levels and identify corrective actions.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with various regulatory agencies, federal agencies, industry associations, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in meetings, conferences, and industry events to stay informed of industry trends and regulatory developments.
  • Act as a representative of the organization in interactions with regulatory authorities, federal agencies, and industry groups.
Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in pre-law, business, public policy, or a related field or work experience equivalent.

Proven experience in compliance, or legal research, preferably in the cannabis or alcohol industry in Texas and/or at the national level.

Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to work with a high degree of accuracy.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills to prepare clear and concise reports for the leadership team.

Strong organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
