POSITION SUMMARY:
This role is responsible for overseeing a designated area in Transportation Safety Compliance and Training, including Fleet Maintenance Facilities, to ensure adherence to regulatory standards in line with Tyson Foods Inc. policies and core values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate collaboration across various internal and external stakeholders, including government entities such as OSHA, DOT, and FMCSA, while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations for drivers and management.
- Engage in compliance evaluations from regulatory bodies, maintaining industry-leading compliance, safety, and accountability (CSA) metrics for accurate reporting and optimal safety ratings.
- Develop and implement strategies and training initiatives aimed at enhancing safety performance, behaviors, and regulatory adherence to meet established objectives.
- Communicate and apply relevant programs, processes, policies, and strategies to transportation operations management and drivers effectively.
- Build and utilize internal and external networks to enhance the achievement of business objectives by involving key stakeholders in the formulation, execution, and assessment of suitable business plans and initiatives.
- Oversee Fleet Maintenance Facilities' compliance with FMCSA regulations, technician certifications, safety training, and OSHA injury reporting.
- Analyze safety compliance audit outcomes, CSA data, and dashboard metrics to identify trends, focus areas, and compliance levels.
- Assist law enforcement at injury and motor vehicle collision sites involving commercial motor vehicles (CMV) to gather information for root cause analysis and the implementation of effective countermeasures.
- Provide litigation support for the Legal Department by offering deposition and trial testimony as required, assisting external counsel and accident reconstruction specialists in investigations, and aiding internal and external legal counsel with discovery processes.
- Travel to various facilities to collaborate with local leadership, identify risks, and conduct training sessions.
- Enhance Tyson Foods' public image by taking a leadership role in state-level industry organizations and participating in collaborative safety events with state and federal law enforcement agencies.
- Exemplify Tyson values and culture, fostering strong relationships and trust with internal and external team members and business partners. Cultivate discipline and focus around talent development, building a talent pipeline, and creating an empowering environment for team members.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Transportation Safety or a related discipline is preferred.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years in FMCSA/DOT safety compliance or 7 years in a related field is preferred.
Preferred Certifications: NATMI Certified Safety Supervisor (CSS), NSC Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
Technical Skills: Proficient in navigating dashboards using Power Apps and Excel spreadsheets.
Communication Skills: Capable of facilitating training, leading change management, and interacting with state and federal agencies.
Specialized Knowledge: Familiarity with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, basic CMV maintenance, and motor vehicle laws.
Supervisory Experience: Cross-functional support of fleet operations, facilities, and regulated CMV drivers.
Travel Requirements: 10-12 domestic trips annually.
