Candidate Profile

Our client is in search of Harbor Pilots to join the Terminal Pilotage Operations Division. This division is tasked with delivering a professional pilotage service, managing vessel traffic systems, and providing support services at all Saudi Aramco Oil Ports and Terminals. The goal is to facilitate the safe, efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible seaborne export and import of crude oils and hydrocarbon products.

Your primary responsibility will be to berth and unberth all vessels without restrictions at North Pier and unberth vessels at Sea Island up to 350,000 DWT without limitations. You will report administratively to the Chief Pilot and functionally to the senior Harbor Pilot.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Science from an accredited Maritime Studies College with 5 years of experience, including at least 4 years in Harbor Pilot or seagoing roles.
  • Alternatively, a High National Diploma from an accredited Maritime Studies College with 6 years of experience, including at least 4 years in Harbor Pilot or seagoing roles.
  • Maritime Studies discipline is required for HND & Bachelor graduates.
  • Completion of a Tanker Safety Course and Basic training in Oil/Chem/Gas is mandatory.
  • Helicopter and Underwater Escape Training Course is also required.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct safety inspections of all vessels prior to berthing or loading.
  • Guide deep-loaded vessels to a secure anchorage and align them for the departure channel upon the ship's Master's request.
  • Investigate oil pollution incidents related to ships or piers and prepare detailed reports.
  • Maintain an official log of all vessels handled and develop a record of selected characteristics of these vessels.
  • Maintain radio communication with vessels in the operational area, advising them on ballast conditions, berthing and unberthing times, and other information to facilitate ship movement and optimize scheduling.
  • Perform additional duties as directed by Senior Harbor Pilot supervision.
  • Issue direct commands regarding steering orders, engine speed, and anchor usage; coordinate tugs and/or mooring launches via radio for berthing/unberthing operations.
  • Direct pier personnel or mooring launches in the sequence of deploying and retrieving mooring lines.
Employment Benefits
  • Monthly Base Salary – competitive with similar roles within the company.
  • Monthly Overbase – 25% of your monthly base salary.
  • Benefits Supplement – 20% of your monthly base salary, increasing to 25% after 3 years, 30% after 6 years, and 35% after 12 years of service.
  • Severance Package (2-year vesting period) – from year 2 to 5: 2 weeks' pay for each year of service; Year 6+: 4 weeks' pay for each subsequent year.
  • Employment Tax – employees may not be required to pay 'home country' income taxes if they separate from their 'home country' for tax purposes; the company will not report income to 'home country' governments.
  • Employee Share Purchase Plan (ESPP) (eligible after 12 months of service) – maximum purchase equal to 10% of monthly base pay with a cap, 20% share discount.
  • Incentive Plan – annual; based on performance, approximately 1.8 times the monthly base salary.
  • Travel Allowance – annual; approximately $8,200 per household member over 11 years old residing in Saudi Arabia and $6,000 per household member under 11 years old.
  • Vacation & Paid Holidays – 38 vacation days, 4 travel days, and 11-13 paid holidays.
  • Medical/Dental Plan – complimentary in-Kingdom medical care/facilities for employees and eligible family members.
  • Educational Assistance Plan (EAP) – Out of Kingdom Assistance: 90% of expenses with a maximum per child, lesser of 5 times monthly base salary or the company max ($48.5K), plus 3 round-trip economy air travel tickets; undergraduate college-age children receive 2 round-trip economy air travel tickets; In Kingdom Assistance: 2 times monthly base salary or the company max ($16.3K).
  • Settling in Allowance – one-time payment; Family Status - 100% of monthly base salary; Single/Bachelor Status – 60% of monthly base salary.

2.1 LHR Americas preliminary phone/video interview: A member of the Talent Acquisition team will schedule a call to discuss the position details, your interests, and qualifications. Your English proficiency will also be evaluated at this stage; only native or advanced speakers will pass this evaluation.

2.2 Client Face-to-Face Interview: This will occur only if your resume is approved by our client. We cannot guarantee the time frame for client approval, but it should take less than a week.

2.3 Additional video interviews with hiring managers may occur, which could include technical questions to assess your problem-solving skills in your field.

3. Conditional Offer: A successful interview may lead to a conditional employment offer.

4. Relocation Process: Once your offer is accepted and all employment conditions are met, you will be assigned a relocation advisor from LHR Americas.
