We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Orthopedic Technician to join our team at Highmark Health. As an Orthopedic Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our physicians and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Assist physicians and extenders in providing medical and clerical support for orthopedic practice locations.
- Perform various procedures, including wound care, dressings, EKGs, removal of sutures/staples, application/removal of orthopedic casts/splints, and drawing up injections, vaccines, and botox.
- Coordinate patient care under the supervision of assigned healthcare providers.
- Prepare and room patients for clinical procedures, documenting patient health information, history, and medications.
- Accurately interview patients and order radiographs according to physician protocols.
- Document all pertinent details in the electronic health record, reviewing and updating allergy and medication lists, social, medical, and surgical history, and pain screening.
- Function as a scribe to the provider when needed to maintain clinic workflow.
- High School Diploma/GED
- Proof of graduation from an AHN-approved Medical Assistant School within five years of application or proof of one year of work experience as a clinical MA in the last three years.
- Certified Athletic Trainers (ATC) will also be considered for this position.
- American Heart Association BLS certification is required.
- 3-5 years' experience as an Ortho Technician, Medical Assistant, or Athletic Trainer Certified (ATC)
