Job Title: Medical Director

We are seeking an experienced Medical Director to join our team at the Virginia Department of Human Resource Management. As a Medical Director, you will be responsible for providing medical care and management to inmates in a correctional setting.

Salary: $225,000 - $326,353 per year

About the Job:
In this role, you will operate a Doctor's Office Practice within the correctional center and work as a member of the institution's internal health services multidisciplinary team. Your primary duties will involve providing professional medical care and medication management to inmates with assistance from nursing staff.

Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and interpret patients' histories, symptoms, physical findings, or diagnostic information to develop appropriate diagnoses.
  • Diagnose or treat acute healthcare problems, such as illnesses, infections, or injuries.
  • Prescribe medications based on efficacy, safety, and cost as legally authorized.
  • Assist with preparation and modification of treatment plans and recommend appropriating programs.
  • Educate patients about self-management of acute or chronic illnesses, tailoring instructions to patients' individual circumstances.

Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited medical college.
  • Completion of an approved residency in a primary care specialty.
  • Licensed to practice medicine in the state of Virginia.
  • Board eligible or certified in a primary care specialty.
