Fairfax County, a highly regarded park system in the country, is seeking a Historic Site Manager to lead the interpretation and protection of historic resources at Sully Historic Site. With over 25,000 acres of parkland, nine RECenters, eight golf courses, three lakefront parks, and more, we offer a diverse and exciting environment for staff to make a difference.

Job Description:

The Historic Site Manager will oversee the facilities and grounds, including an 18th-century dwelling house with exhibits, collection objects, five outbuildings, a visitor center, store, classroom, picnic grounds, kitchen garden, and 130 acres of grounds. Responsibilities include maintaining site structures, grounds, and artifacts; leading public engagement through annual events, tours, and programs; developing and updating site operations plans; and collaborating with stakeholders.

Key Qualifications:

To be successful, candidates should have a bachelor's degree in American history, American studies, archaeology, museum education, or a closely related field, plus three years of experience in museum or historical site interpretation, collections, education, and/or research. Preferred qualifications include knowledge of historic resource documentation, effective leadership skills, and proficiency with Office 365 suite of applications.

Benefits and Compensation:

We offer a competitive salary range of $85,000 - $115,000 per year, depending on experience, as well as opportunities for professional development and collaboration with a team of professionals. The appointee will also receive a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
