Job Description

Tesoro Group is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join one of our long-term clients' team at a property in Minneapolis, MN. The ideal candidate will have 2 years' experience in residential maintenance, be familiar with unit turns, possess knowledge of basic maintenance and mechanical knowledge, be self-motivated, be able to organize multiple tasks throughout the day, and be self-sufficient. This role is contract to hire (90 days before conversion).

This role will be working with a building that was built in 1999, 92 tax credit units, and 2 stories.

Salary: $25-$28/hour DOQ. This role is contract to hire (90 days before conversion).

Schedule: Monday – Friday 8am – 430pm – must be available for apartment turns and emergency response/on-call upon conversion.

Emergency Response Schedule: No on-call while on contract, but 3 week on-call rotation after conversion.

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing property plumbing, appliances, HVAC, and equipment to ensure it is kept in good condition and operates correctly. Respond to Yardi Maintenance requests and assist with unit turns.

Responsibilities and Job Duties:

The completion of all maintenance service requests as assigned by performing a wide variety of general maintenance and repair functions including:

  • Plumbing
  • Electrical
  • Appliance repair
  • Air handler and general HVAC maintenance
  • Lock changes
  • Apartment turnovers
  • Preventative maintenance
  • Installation and repair of window coverings, doors, cabinets, light fixtures, etc.
  • Must have proven knowledge and experience in all areas of general maintenance
  • Ability to engage in high level customer service that is culturally responsive, ensuring consideration for differing needs and expectations of residents, staffs, vendors, community members, etc... is required
  • Possess a prideful work ethic and be a team player
  • Possess a valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and vehicle insurance
  • Own basic tools

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, climb, bend, and kneel for extended periods of time
  • Ability to complete daily tours between properties including but not limited to inspecting grounds, common areas, hallways, stairwell, and apartment homes
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to reach above and below the shoulders
  • Ability to use hands and fingers to grasp, twist, and pull
  • Ability to withstand external weather conditions such as working outside in the rain, cold, heat, or other adverse weather
  • Ability to quickly respond to sights and sounds that may pose a threat to persons or property

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 2 years' experience in residential maintenance.
  • Experience in unit turns.
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.
  • Be able to pass a Kari Koskinen background check.
