Job Summary

To provide high-quality personal care services to terminally ill patients in their homes, under the direction of a registered nurse. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, empathy, and the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities
  • Provide essential personal care assistance to patients, including bathing, oral care, skin care, and hair care.
  • Assist patients with ambulation, transfers, and range of motion exercises as ordered by the care plan.
  • Prepare meals, including special diets, and assist with household services essential to the patient's well-being.
  • Take patients' temperatures, pulse, respirations, and blood pressure as assigned by a registered nurse.
  • Provide emotional support and compassionate care to patients and their families.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate from an approved training and competency course (CNA required).
  • Ability to work independently, make accurate judgments, and respond appropriately to crises.
  • Acceptance of and adaptability to different social, racial, cultural, and religious modes.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a nursing assistant, preferred.
Working Conditions

The Hospice Care Assistant will work in patients' homes, with exposure to elements such as odors, blood, body fluids, and excrements. The ideal candidate will be able to tolerate these conditions and maintain a high level of professionalism.
