Position Overview: The Housing Authority of Kansas City, Missouri is in search of dedicated individuals for the role of Self-Sufficiency Program Coordinator.

This role is pivotal in the creation and execution of the Self-Sufficiency Program, collaborating with residents, Resident Services personnel, and community stakeholders to assess needs and align resources that foster independence, empowerment, and thriving communities in Kansas City, MO.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive needs assessments to identify if families require additional support, such as parenting education, financial literacy, vocational training, and health services, to enhance family cohesion and promote self-sufficiency.
  • Facilitate services for individuals with mental health challenges, ensuring they receive the necessary support and supervision for safe community living.
  • Maintain consistent communication with clients through various channels, including face-to-face meetings, phone calls, and written correspondence.
  • Perform detailed interviews with program participants to evaluate eligibility and identify service requirements, as well as any barriers to achieving goals in job training, education, or skill development.
  • Collaborate with authority staff and both public and private organizations to engage participants in the Self-Sufficiency Program.
  • Provide or connect participants with counseling in essential life skills such as parenting, career development, financial management, and nutrition.
  • Assist participants in completing applications for educational grants and scholarships, while working with educational institutions to streamline admission processes and monitor participant progress.

Qualifications: A Master's Degree in Social Work is preferred; however, a Bachelor's Degree combined with relevant experience in strengths-based case management may also be considered. The Housing Authority of Kansas City, Missouri is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
