Position Overview

The Electric Operations Training Specialist plays a pivotal role in crafting and executing training initiatives within the Electric Operations domain. This encompasses a range of Electric Distribution roles that necessitate the administration of apprenticeship programs. The specialist is tasked with the creation and refinement of training materials to ensure adherence to regulatory standards, enhance safety protocols, and meet or surpass industry benchmarks. By leveraging principles of adult learning theory, the specialist will design and implement both technical and non-technical training through diverse formats.

This role is part of a structured job family (including Work Methods and Development Consultant, Senior Work Methods and Development Consultant, Principal Work Methods and Development Consultant), with experience being a key factor in determining the specific level.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver technical training programs.
  • Oversee training and progression initiatives for operations.
  • Establish training schedules and allocate resources to fulfill operational requirements.
  • Develop, edit, and publish work methods and procedures for Electric Operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Lead initiatives for the maintenance of work methods.
  • Facilitate meetings to synchronize training content and work practices.
  • Conduct evaluations at job sites and maintain a field presence.
  • Serve as a technical expert to assist leadership and the Safety Department.
  • Lead investigations into root causes of operational issues.
  • Act as a recognized expert resource in support of electric operations.
  • Participate in company-wide storm restoration efforts and fulfill on-call operational duties, including supervisory responsibilities for field operations personnel.
Experience Requirements
  • Work Methods Level: 2-3 years of operational or relevant experience; alternatively, a degree with a minimum of 2-3 years in teaching/training.
  • Senior Level: 5 years of operational experience; alternatively, a degree with a minimum of 5 years in teaching/training.
  • Principal Level: 7 years of operational experience; alternatively, a degree with a minimum of 7 years in teaching/training.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Outstanding organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple tasks under time constraints.
  • Experience with project management methodologies is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in standard office software (MS Excel, Visio, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Commitment to overcoming challenges in task completion.
  • Proactive in seeking feedback and utilizing information for continuous learning.
  • Understanding of adult learning principles is beneficial.
