Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lab Technician 2 to join our team in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. The successful candidate will provide technical support for research projects, engage in scientific experiments, and maintain a safe and clean laboratory environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research under the supervision of senior lab members, including molecular cloning, mammalian cell culture, and live cell/fixed cell microscopic imaging.
  • Maintain lab inventory, order supplies, and prepare buffers and reagents.
  • Train new lab members on general lab techniques and safety protocols.
  • Participate in regular lab meetings and present research progress.
  • Attend departmental seminars and national scientific conferences.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in a related field.
  • At least 2 years of lab experience, including student experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in biological science may be considered in lieu of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in biological science and at least 2 years of previous experience.
  • Basic cell biology and molecular biology skills.
  • Experience with microscopy, cell culture, bioinformatics, and protein purification.
