Job Summary

The Sanitation Department Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the sanitation department, ensuring the cleaning and disinfecting of production and shipping areas within our seafood processing facility. This role involves supervising all sanitation personnel, ensuring proper sanitation of all equipment, plant, and grounds, and ensuring all required paperwork is completed on time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise sanitation personnel and ensure proper sanitation of all equipment, plant, and grounds
  • Ensure all required paperwork is completed on time
  • Lead the Environmental Monitoring program, working with Quality Assurance, Production, and Maintenance to ensure a healthy plant environment
  • Manage chemicals and sanitizers, training teams to work efficiently and effectively to ensure food safety and workspace cleanliness
  • Provide leadership and resolve employee problems, complaints, and grievances
  • Schedule, manage, and track labor in real-time through ADP
  • Monitor and control expenses pertaining to labor and overtime hours
  • Drive an environment of teamwork and open communication
  • Manage an environment that drives performance while maintaining a safe workplace
Requirements
  • 3+ years of increasingly responsible management positions in the food processing industry, preferably in a supervisory capacity
  • 3+ years of experience in a sanitation department, preferably in a supervisory capacity
  • 1+ year of experience working overnight shift
  • Food industry background preferred; seafood industry experience is a plus
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of managers, supervisors, or employees of the company
  • Ability to work through the night
  • Proven leader in improving work processes and leading change in a complex, fast-paced environment
  • Able to manage priorities and complexities, strong multitasking skills
  • Able to understand and improve performance, efficiency, and product yield
  • Strong supervisory, interpersonal, training, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and food safety regulations
  • Understand OSHA/FDA/USDA requirements in a seafood manufacturing environment
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
Additional Requirements
  • Must be able to lift 30-50 pounds
  • Work up to a 10-hour workday: standing/walking 6-8 hours
  • Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling
  • Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching
  • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals
