Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Sleep Technologist II Comprehensive Epilepsy to join our team. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in performing all aspects of Polysomnography for both clinical and research patients. This role requires a strong understanding of commonly used drugs to manage sleep disorders, as well as the ability to recognize interactions that could have an adverse effect on the patient. The Sleep Technologist II Comprehensive Epilepsy will also be responsible for performing mask fittings to optimize patient satisfaction with the CPAP machine, writing and adapting protocols as needed, scoring sleep studies, and training staff on new equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform Polysomnographic procedures, including Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Test (MWT), parasomnia studies, PAP, oxygen titration, and other sleep studies.
- Document routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and significant events, to facilitate scoring and interpretation of polysomnographic results.
- Implement appropriate interventions, including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention, such as continuous and bi-level positive airway pressure, oxygen administration, etc.
- Score sleep/wake stages by applying professionally accepted guidelines and score clinical events, such as respiratory events, cardiac events, limb movements, arousals, etc., according to center-specific protocols.
- Generate accurate reports by tabulating sleep/wake and clinical event data.
- Comply with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, and standards regarding safety and infection control issues.
- Maintain current CPR or BCLS certification and demonstrate effective written and spoken communication skills.
Requirements:
- NYS OP License and current registration as a Polysomnographic Technologist, OR, Registered Respiratory Therapist, OR Respiratory Therapy Technician competent to perform Polysomnographic Technology services.
- 5 years experience in Polysomnography or a related field.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $49.05 - $49.62 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
