Career Transitions, LLC is seeking a Director of Metals Procurement for a pivotal leadership position focused on formulating and executing global sourcing strategies for direct materials and metals. This role is crucial for ensuring supply chain efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and oversee key performance indicators (KPIs) to enhance the supply chain performance of the team.
- Design and implement comprehensive sourcing strategies for direct materials and metals aligned with business goals.
- Assess, evaluate, and select suppliers to guarantee optimal cost, quality, and delivery performance.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms and conditions for the organization.
- Create and manage team and supplier dashboards focused on performance, implementing improvement plans as necessary.
- Conduct regular supplier audits to ensure adherence to company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Lead cost reduction initiatives and value engineering projects to meet budgetary objectives.
- Analyze market trends and perform cost benchmarking to uncover savings opportunities.
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including geopolitical, economic, and environmental factors, with contingency planning for potential disruptions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related discipline; a Master's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in strategic sourcing and procurement, particularly in direct materials and metals, with a strong emphasis on group management.
- Demonstrated success in leading global sourcing initiatives and achieving cost savings.
- Exceptional negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships at all organizational levels.
- Experience in supplier relationship management and contract negotiation.
- In-depth knowledge of market trends, industry standards, and regulatory requirements related to direct materials and metals.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in Supply Chain Management (e.g., CPSM, CSCP).
- Familiarity with ERP systems and procurement software.
- Understanding of sustainability practices and initiatives in sourcing and procurement.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
