Lead Instructor for Hybrid Medical Assistant Program
The Lead Instructor will oversee, enhance, and deliver the Medical Assistant curriculum and course materials through a hybrid educational format, aiming to equip students with the necessary skills in alignment with established curriculum standards and objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with the Education Department to address curriculum issues and coordinate with the Learning Design team for timely updates to course content.
Integrate curriculum and textbook modifications into the hybrid program's course offerings.
Exhibit comprehensive knowledge of third-party educational tools to optimize resources available within the courses and support new hybrid instructors.
Contribute to ongoing hybrid initiatives aimed at improving student engagement and communication across campuses.
Act as a liaison to foster effective communication between on-site lab faculty and online hybrid instructors.
Assist in the continuous evaluation of student performance through metrics such as retention rates, progression, and end-of-course feedback, making necessary adjustments to the curriculum to minimize withdrawals and failures.
Participate in and facilitate professional development training for hybrid online and lab faculty.
Organize, lead, and document regular meetings involving hybrid online instructors, campus lab faculty, and administration to ensure compliance with accreditation standards.
Work closely with the Hybrid Assistant Dean of Faculty to mentor and guide new hybrid faculty, providing remedial training on program-specific content and addressing student concerns related to curriculum and instructional support.
Provide substitute coverage for Medical Assistant courses when necessary.
Contribute to Advisory Board meetings to ensure that concerns, student progress, outcomes, and community satisfaction are effectively communicated to the Hybrid Program Director.
TEACHING DUTIES
Instruct students in foundational courses of the Medical Assistant Program.
Facilitate and monitor online courses in accordance with established guidelines and accreditation requirements.
Ensure that foundational courses meet syllabus objectives.
Offer constructive feedback on assignments and additional support to students who may be struggling with course material.
Track student attendance and performance; provide outreach and support to at-risk students; inform the Hybrid Program Director and designated Student Services Coordinator of any concerns.
Maintain a student retention rate of 80% across all classes taught in the sequence.
Manage student grades in accordance with institutional policies and prepare final grades at the conclusion of the course sequence.
Stay updated with current trends and advancements in the field of education and technology.
The list of responsibilities is not exhaustive and may be expanded as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
Associate degree required.
Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program recognized by relevant educational authorities or a recognized training entity in Medical Assisting.
A minimum of three (3) years of full-time practical experience in a healthcare environment, including at least 40 hours in an ambulatory healthcare setting.
Four (4) years of relevant training and experience for instructors not graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
Current medical assistant registration or certification from a nationally recognized certifying agency (CMA or RMA) is required.
Current teaching license, certification, or other credentials as mandated by local, state, or federal regulations.
Three (3) years of teaching experience is necessary.
Experience as an online hybrid instructor is essential.
Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite, Blackboard, and other relevant software is required.
