Job Summary

Pima Medical Institute is seeking a highly qualified Veterinary Medicine Instructor to join our team. As a DVM Educator, you will be responsible for instructing and implementing the Veterinary Assistant program, educating students in accordance with curriculum standards and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Development and Implementation: Develop and implement daily lesson plans for students, including scheduled activities and materials for modules.
  • Instructional Planning: Plan instruction to achieve specific objectives based on student need and established curriculum.
  • Student Attendance and Progress: Monitor student attendance and coordinate with the Associate Director when absences occur. Maintain student attendance records and prepare attendance reports for the office management department.
  • Student Success and Evaluation: Review student success rates and implement plans to reduce student withdrawals. Meet with students to encourage them to stay in the program and maintain an 80% student success rate for all classes taught.
  • Guest Speakers and Community Service: Arrange and coordinate guest speakers, community service field trips, and visits to clinics and medical offices.
  • Lecture Preparation and Delivery: Prepare lectures and practical demonstrations for students in class and individually.
  • Student Advising and Support: Assist and advise students with the Veterinary Assistant program curriculum.
  • Supply Management and Externships: Assist with the inventory and ordering of supplies and equipment, and coordinate externships for Veterinary Assistant students.
  • Classroom Management and Safety: Monitor students in the classroom, assist students, and ensure safety precautions are adhered to.
Requirements
  • Education: Graduation from an institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • License and Certification: Must graduate with a degree certifying Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and be licensed as a Veterinarian in the state where the campus is located.
  • Experience: Three (3) years of experience as a DVM in a clinic, hospital, or shelter environment.
  • Communication and Computer Skills: Verbal and written communication skills, and computer skills with experience in basic word processing and spreadsheet documents.
