Role Summary:
The International Education Program Coordinator operates under the guidance of the Faculty Chair for Study Abroad, Study Away, and International Exchange, within the Office dedicated to these initiatives. This role primarily serves as a liaison for the Office, managing operations in alignment with institutional objectives. The office provides essential support for both incoming and outgoing international students, as well as participants in exchange and short-term education abroad programs. Collaboration with various departments, including International Student Services, Student Account Services, the Registrar's Office, Financial Aid, Admissions, and faculty coordinators of study abroad programs, is key to this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruit and counsel prospective students regarding study abroad and study away opportunities.
- Promote international education initiatives during campus events, student group meetings, and classroom visits.
- Oversee budget management, travel logistics, and accommodation arrangements for international programs.
- Assist in processing and evaluating student applications through relevant software platforms.
- Coordinate information sessions, orientation events for students and faculty, and study abroad fairs.
- Manage evaluations of student experiences abroad and compile summary reports.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with educational institutions and program providers.
- Support the execution of exchange agreements and coordinate site visits.
- Contribute to the management of social media accounts related to international education.
- Assist in maintaining the department's web content and promotional materials.
- Engage in administrative tasks as required.
- Advise international exchange students on course registration and necessary documentation.
- Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) and/or Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO).
- Support activities related to the Bridge Program and other initiatives for international students.
- Oversee and mentor student workers as needed.
- Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
- Passion for international education and the ability to effectively promote these opportunities to students.
- Commitment to the principles of global education.
- Strong service orientation with the ability to advise students on study abroad options.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in using various software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and specialized educational software.
- Ability to interact professionally with diverse populations and the university community.
- Detail-oriented with strong multitasking capabilities.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to team objectives.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
- Flexibility to work outside of standard hours when necessary.
- Light work: Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
- At least one year of relevant experience in international education, student services, or advising.
- US citizenship or lawful permanent resident status is required for DSO or ARO roles.
- Background check will be conducted.
