Position Summary:

This role involves conducting patrols, surveillance, escorting, investigation, and intervention services to ensure the safety and security of all patients, visitors, staff, and medical professionals within the healthcare facility.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct regular patrols of the facility and grounds, monitoring for unsafe or unlawful activities, and ensuring all areas are secure.
2. Verify that only authorized individuals access the premises.
3. Provide escort and assistance to visitors, patients, and staff throughout the facility.
4. Respond to unusual or emergency situations, employing the appropriate level of force as per established protocols.
5. Address emergency calls to manage disorderly conduct or aggressive patients, engaging in de-escalation tactics, including physical restraint when necessary.
6. Effectively intervene in situations involving unruly, abusive, or armed individuals, prioritizing the safety of victims and bystanders.
7. Participate as a member of the Fire Response Team, responding to various alarms.
8. Investigate incidents of unusual circumstances reported by staff, visitors, or patients.
9. Assist patients, visitors, and staff with vehicle issues, such as flat tires or lockouts.
10. Document incidents and investigation findings in detailed reports.
11. Inspect outgoing packages to mitigate theft of hospital property.
12. Report and address safety and fire hazards identified during patrols and inspections.
13. Transport cash, checks, documents, and supplies as needed.
14. Engage in all disaster response protocols, including Active Shooter and Bomb Threat situations.
15. Assist with traffic management to keep emergency access areas clear.
16. Maintain confidentiality regarding all matters related to the organization, its patients, staff, and visitors.

Additional Information

Education Requirements:
* No specific educational qualifications required, provided other position criteria are met.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
* Must obtain and maintain certification in CPI, North Carolina Private Protective Services Unarmed Security Officer, and Hands Only CPR within 90 days of employment.
Professional Experience Requirements:
* Previous experience in security or law enforcement is preferred.
