POSITION SUMMARY

Amazon is in search of a highly skilled and proactive Senior Technical Program Manager with a robust background in software engineering and exceptional program management capabilities to become a vital part of our Cloud Engineering Division.

In this advanced position, you will collaborate with diverse teams comprising both technical and non-technical stakeholders to establish strategic direction, gather requirements, foresee potential challenges, plan for interdependencies, mitigate project risks, and effectively communicate throughout the complete software engineering lifecycle. Your role will involve working closely with Product, Software (Mobile Applications, Cloud), and Hardware (Firmware) Engineering teams to assess and develop features and services related to devices. You will provide the necessary technical leadership to ensure successful software application development and integration. If you thrive in a dynamic environment and have a passion for influencing the strategic trajectory of a global entity, this role offers a rewarding challenge.

One of your key responsibilities will be to partner with engineering leadership to drive initiatives aimed at streamlining our cloud infrastructure and aligning it with business requirements. Additional duties will include collaborating across various Amazon and Ring engineering teams as we continue to innovate and deliver industry-leading affordable smart security solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Cultivate and maintain effective working relationships with both technical and non-technical teams involved in launching new devices and features across remote and multi-site environments.

- Take ownership of the delivery of significant and impactful program initiatives while accurately monitoring a series of smaller projects.

- Define, plan, implement, and successfully deliver software programs while working in conjunction with product, engineering, business stakeholders, and senior leadership to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.

- Drive strategic planning efforts, collaborating closely with engineering to formulate feature plans, roadmaps, identify dependencies, and develop resource plans.

- Lead technical design evaluations, conduct in-depth assessments, and utilize data to establish success criteria, trends, and insights.

- Assess solution designs and complex business and technical requirements, communicating any program risks and proposed solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Exhibit sound judgment and a proven ability to influence without direct authority.

- Communicate effectively and clearly with management regarding plans, progress, and critical issues.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 7+ years of experience working directly with engineering teams.

- 5+ years of experience in technical product or program management.

- 5+ years of experience in technical program management collaborating directly with software engineering teams.

- Familiarity with service-oriented architectures and cloud technologies/development.

- Experience working with remote and multi-site teams to deliver interconnected system components.

- 6+ years of software engineering experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 7+ years of experience in project management disciplines, including scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and critical path management.

- Proven experience managing projects across cross-functional teams, establishing sustainable processes, and coordinating release schedules.

- Experience defining KPIs/SLAs that drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership.

- Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.

- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

- Strong leadership, teamwork, and collaboration abilities.

- Experience in driving large-scale enterprise projects as a Technical Program Manager.

- Proficient in risk management and making complex technical/risk trade-off recommendations and decisions.

- Independent, resourceful, and capable of delivering results with minimal supervision.

- Ability to communicate effectively with developers, product managers, and senior business and engineering leaders.

- High sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.

- Demonstrated experience in project and stakeholder management.
